Butchers Block Farms Pty Ltd

Our Mission
A Better Way to Farm
We believe in a holistic approach to farming. We have a duty of care to our animals and to our land to ensure the best possible end result. Our Beef is all grass fed and hormone free and we practice low stress animal handling at all stages. Yard weaning all our calves then gently introducing humans, dogs, horses and motorbikes, create calm and easily manageable cattle. We do not over stock and we use rotational grazing. This means that when times get tough we always have enough feed for our cattle and we don't take too many of the essential soil micronutrients out of the ground. We consistently put back into our pastures. Wether it's soil testing or rotational seeding, we ensure that we put back into the soil elements that may be reduced from grazing, hay and silage and the environment. We take a very hands on approach to monitor our animals and our land so that we can have happy cows, healthy pastures and produce the best possible end product.

Our History
How it all began....
Butchers Block Farms Pty Ltd was established in 2015. It was the creation of Max and Cheryl Warwick and Bill and Georgia Wilson. Max and Cheryl are  Georgia's parents and initially met Bill in 2004 when they purchased their first farming block on the Mornington peninsular and became one of Bills agricultural contracting clients. Max and Cheryl then purchased Malabar, sold the first block and eventually made their full time home at Malabar in 2008. In 2010 Georgia and Bill realised their dream of owning their own property with the purchase of Riverglen. After a number of years of establishing, expanding and improving each property it was decided that joining forces would allow for further development and expansion of the agriculture enterprises by maximising Bill's agricultural knowledge and Max's business expertise. Keep watching this space to see what exciting developments are happening in the future.
Our Farms....

Riverglen
Riverglen is a 1400ac beef cattle property nestled in the heart of the King Valley. Being a tightly held area with secure water and high rainfall it is an ideal location to grow, develop and brand world class beef. We have an average annual rainfall of 1000ml, but it can also get very hot and dry in summer. We utilise our irrigation over the warmer months to produce feed for grazing, silage or hay. Being predominantly river flats the soil is rich in nutrients, ideal for growing feed and fattening cattle.
Malabar
Malabar is an outstanding 180ac Mornington Peninsular property. Situated in the rolling hills of this costal area the soils are well drained and extremely fertile. The average annual rainfall is 700ml and the climate is more temperate which makes Malabar an ideal place for finishing cattle.
